Does the iPhone really need it's own keynote?

I realize this is Apple's flagship product, but with the iPhone becoming so predictable and having everything leaked ahead of time, does the iPhone really need its own keynote anymore?

I think they should at least have the iPod update at the same time, like they used to.

I knew the iPhone was going to be nothing special, so it seems like an awful lot of hype for a product that isn't that overwhelming, if at all.
