One problem with Android phones is that carriers preload them with third-party apps that users typically can't uninstall or even move to the memory card -- at least not without rooting. Carriers often also push out additional apps with each OTA upgrade. An example is the Kindle app on some (all?) Sprint Android phones.

What does Apple allow on the iPhone in terms of third-party apps? Just Apple-approved ones? Or does Apple allow carriers to preload third-party apps?
