I want to talk about the mics for a second. If the X records video in mono, that would be plain sad for a $1000 phone. Hopefully the 8 & 8 plus are the last phones Apple releases with mono recording. These are life memories we're recording. Stereo sound should be as important as the video quality. We're watching these on TV with A/V receivers.
The f/2.4 - f/2.8 difference is a half a stop of light, not a huge difference, but the OIS will add the ability for the shutter speeds to be slower, theoretically. It all depends on the end users technique. The camera should be a fair bit better as it's 2.4 with OIS against 2.8 with no OIS on the 8 Plus
You recording with a tiny microphone, even with stereo you don't really have much distance between the mics - physics is working against you!
If you are after a good, clean, audio track similar to professionally produced material then you really need an external shotgun mic - lots of options available across various price points and they make a massive difference:

Regarding the speakers, That would be a difficult assessment to make, as no one here has tested iPhone X to actually know the differences. After November 3, you will have your answer.
Hard to test speaker volume and clarity in a large, crowded, loud room.I think this goes back to if those critics who were on the floor with hands-on with those devices, they should have tried to test that function and stuck it in a hands on article about impressions. We the consumer should not have to wait for a product launch to do that when these media/event attendees should have had enough hands on time to get the kinds of information us consumers care about.
The X has OIS on both rear cameras (the 8 doesn’t have it on the wide angle lens) and the front facing camera supports portrait mode thanks to all the sensors in the notch.
I compared my iPhone X to to my 8 Plus and 9 Plus, and it seems like the 5 is better.
Seriously, we don't have the X yet so nobody knows except for some Apple employees.

What headphone jack?I wonder if there is some measurement tech you can plug into a headphone jack and measure total audio decibels so crowded loud rooms don't matter.
What headphone jack?![]()

The 5 has no OIS at all. Your eyes are tricking you if you think the 5 takes better photos than the others.
