As ive seen from alot of reviews, the MacBook Air tends to reach 100 Degrees easily without doing heavy stuff on it, so i ordered a Pro few days ago. Now my question is, does the Pro have the same heat problems as the Air?

Not sure. I was in the market new 13" Macbook so originally was going with the new Air. Then the 13" MBP dropped and I read issues about the fans on the Air. So, I purchased the 8th gen base model. But before the 14 day return period was over, Best Buy took $200 off the base 10th gen so I upgraded to that.

So far the 10th gen 13" MBP has been fine for what I do, voice recording, slides, and video creation. All of my stuff is for technical training so no real graphics work. And I have experienced no issues with fans spinning up while capturing voice tracks with Adobe Audition.

I had the MBP 2020 10th gen for a week. Got hot as hell sometimes, I felt it at the palm rest spaces. Didn't anything special. My MBP early 2015 gets warm but not that hot. Returned the 2020 machine, hoping for Apple Silicon.

Hi there,

Copying and pasting my initial review of the 13” 2020 MBP. Cropped the end of it since I haven’t got to work on those two projects I mentioned in my original post:

I recently picked up the 10th gen i5/16/512 model. This is arguably the best Mac I have ever owned. It got warm first day downloading, installing and indexing everything; fan noise has been very acceptable. Trackpad/palm area gets slightly warm, but nothing too crazy. It handles WOW and some of my Steam titles just fine (I have realistic expectations running games with iGPU so I haven't bothered trying ultra settings, and yes fans kick in when I'm gaming). Xcode, Photoshop, Lightroom and productivity apps (Office 365, etc.) run smooth as butter. Same thing goes for video conferences.
Battery life is AMAZING. Yesterday and today, on and off I have been browsing the internet (SAFARI), streaming some music and running some productivity apps - I believe I am close to 12-13 hours of usage - and battery has just gone south of 15%. Of course your mileage may vary if you're using Chrome (for the love of God at least don't use Chrome on the go), screen brightness, ambient temperature, etc.
I was on the fence for getting the i7/32/2tb model (the only i7 model that is readily available at the Apple Store) but I am glad I didn't. For what I use it for, this is an amazing machine and I am loving it. Unless you have a crazy demanding work flow, the new i5/16/512 model should be more than plenty for most of you out there.
I also use Sidecar actively so I haven't bothered plugging in my 4K monitor. Sidecar runs smoothly and it hasn't caused fans to kick in - so if you have a relatively new/compatible iPad laying around somewhere, you may find that a viable option if you are concerned with fans kicking in when you connect an external monitor.

Cheers!

Just bought a Macbook Pro 2020 base model (i5 quad core, 512GB SSD, 8GB Ram) for $730.
Handling everything smooth so far although this is 8th-gen Intel CPU. I will be using this for a few years.

I bought an used thinkpad for $30, and traded the thinkpad and $700 for that open box Macbook Pro 2020 base model. The guy who was selling thought that my thinkpad worth 500-700$.
Ok a lot of hoops to jump through to replicate your bargain 😂

Was it worth 500 bucks? Or did you scam him?

The thinkpad was selling on ebay for 450-500 and was in perfect working condition...I got a good deal on the thinkpad... Also he knew all the specs of my thinkpad I don't think anyone got tricked here. He needed cash quite badly and the Macbook Pro was sitting on the market for about two weeks because he took a very poor photo of it... SO yeah I made good trade and got lucky.

Yeah I am in a special local market which is very illiquid, so sometimes I got good deals because of buyer remose and they couldn't sell locally for a good price. I usually look for items listed with 2 weeks old on the market and negotiated aggressively.

I've seen some good Apple stuffs with crazy cheap price locally recently because people need cash to pay bills etc... stimulus money running out.

My first 10th gen i5 model got hot all the time. Even with 1 safari tab open, the palm rest and keyboard would be extremely warm. I just got a replacement, same model, and it's cool to the touch with the same activity.

Lucky you. Around my neck of the woods most are selling hot trash for mega $$$ which I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole.
