In other words, if I'm doing a CPU intensive task whilst being on battery and while being on power, will I get different performance?

I ask because sometimes I notice that if I unzip a 15gb file on the go it is slower than if I did it at home with the power attached.

It's not supposed to afaik, so it could be a matter of perception? :)

Nope, i'm using my 17" now on battery....It's just due to have a cycle, but plugging in makes no difference in performance UNLESS you drastically fiddle with your power settings in System>Preferences.

No it shouldn't really make a difference.

Interesting side-note: In the old days when batteries were removable a Macbook Pro would actually run slower when it was running solely off the mains!
