Hey. I’ve read some people saying the new 14” MBP can get very warm with general use. Is this something you have noticed? Just want to hear about it before I make my final decision on the 14 or 16. Thanks

It can get warm when pushed hard but less hot to the touch than my 2011 15" was.

However most of the time doing the sort of thing that causes that I have it at a desk (e.g., gaming, rendering, etc.).

In general use it is cold. And silent.

I have a 14" 10-core M1 Pro. And honestly, I have no been able to get the fan to turn on yet except for when benchmarks are ran.

In regular use, the fans are off and the SoC hovers between 40 Celsius to about 60 Celsius depending on the tasks. I typically run Xcode, Capture One Pro, Fusion 360, Ultimaker Cura, etc... and none of those apps can make the fans turn on.

I have the 14" M1 Max 10/32 core/64GB. I am using it for video editing using Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects.

For just light use - web browsing, reading mail - it is actually cold if I put it on my lap.

For all the heavy stuff it will get warm, which is actually nice and comfortable if it is on my lap! Performance Core temps will get up to 147 degree F and the fans will kick in running at about 2400-2700 but I can't hear them running. When just browsing the web core temps sits at 109 degrees F.

I don't know what the others, who claim it is getting hot, are talking about. I had a 2020 13" i7 and it got HOT! I could not hold it on my lap when I was pushing it. As for memory leaks - I have not had a single problem with that and I tried to overload it. It runs smooth and fast.

Mine is as cool as a cucumber, warms up briefly, but cools down quickly, pretty nice!

Been working on mine most of the day on my recliner....no heat AT ALL! This machine is amazing. So glad I cancelled my order for the 16" and got the 14" instead. I have an external monitor I use in clamshell mode when I need extra screen real estate. The portability of the 14" coupled with long battery life (24-core GPU here) and no heat makes this thing a dream to use on your lap!
