Does the number of Apps enabled for push notification affect battery life?

Hi,

Does the number of Apps enabled for push notification affect battery life?
Does any one know the answer to this question? I tried searching on the forums for this but I could not find any answers.

My current settings are push notifications on (for about 8 apps). Fetch/push email off. Bluetooth off. Location on. Brightness 50% w/ auto on. My usage is still increasing even when I do not use the phone..

The number of Apps does not affect battery life. Only one connection is maintained to the push notification server. Of course, the number of notifications that you receive will have extremely minor effects.

Hmm interesting. I still do not understand why the usage is running even when I am not using it.. It only started happening after I enabled push notifications this morning but I haven't received any notifications yet.
