Currently own an S2 and contemplating an upgrade. Since the S4 comes with all new motion sensors, does it show time more easily, or is a very unnatural full frontal 90 degree wrist flick still necessary for activating the watch face? I’d really like to check the time a bit more discretely.

I didnt find any difference in wrist movement to turn on screen between AW3 and AW4 but I have never had to rotate my wrist 90 degrees on any of my previous AW’s. Just a slight twist or lift up and in activates the screen.

It’s pretty effortless to be honest. You just raise your wrist and the watch gets lit up.

Nothing has changed, raise to wake that displays the time and it’s completely noticeable as it always has been, just on a larger display. Raise to wake sensitivity May have been improved since the Series 2.

I went from AW2 to the AW4. OMG - world of difference. Apps load so much faster. The screen is larger so you can put more on it. To answer your question though - if the screen doesn't come on with the wrist flick, you can use the crown to slowly increase the brightness until you can see the face. Plus - you can finger tap it. I believe the 4 to be more sensitive. In fact, what you wish for can be a downfall. I often find my watch face with an app running on it I didn't want to run.

Hmmm... I may have to go to a store then, to check it out. Will return with results.

Wow I didn’t know about this! Thanks man :)

I used to really like this feature when wearing the watch sleeping as you can just turn the crown a little and get a very dim display in the dark. Problem is when sleeping, the crown rubs on the sheets and the screen constantly turned on full brightness during the night so I eventually turned off the feature.

Okay, turns out responsiveness and screen time is 100% exactly the same as S2. Oh well oh well.

I feel it’s a bit better. Might just be the speed of the watch, but it’s faster to light up compared to my S2 in my own non-scientific real world experience

It’s about the same. The other day I was carrying a coffee mug with my watch hand and a plate of food in the other and no matter what I did, I couldn’t get the time to show. I finally had to put my coffee mug down so that I could turn my wrist enough to see the time.

I wear mine at night too and I just put it on Theater mode by swiping up to get the dashboard so I don't get blinded when I lift my hand by my face in the middle of the night.
