Does the silence switch silence everything on your iphone (5)?

Hey guys I have school tmrw and I still bring my phone with me no matter where I go just incase something happens, emergency etc... Anyways I was just wondering if when I turn the silent switch on from the side the whole phone goes silent meaning no notification calls texts updates etc... What about vibration and Siri does that go silent also? Any help is appreciated so I know what I have to do tmrw. Thanks!

From memory calendar alarms will still vibrate. Why not try one now?

The alarms can be found within the clocks app on your iPhone.

Silent switch puts alerts to vibrate. Better to use do not disturb. Best thing about ios6.
