I bought a 3G on release day. When I check my status I get the following message:

As a valued AT&T customer, AT&T can offer you an early iPhone upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. [it then gives me a $499 price for the 32 GB model] You may qualify for a standard iPhone upgrade on 07/12/2009.

Does this mean if I just wait until July 12th that I will get the 32GB 3GS for $299?

Just checked my status through Apple and the date changed from 12/12/09 to 7/12/09 for the standard upgrade. I think I can wait a month and save $200... if i don't end up throwing this piece of crap BB pearl in the garbage before then.

If it says your "early iPhone upgrade" is being offered on July 12th:

-If you buy it from June 19-July 11 you pay $299, $399, or $499 plus a $75 early upgrade fee.
-If you buy it from July 12-on you pay $99, $199 or $299 with no fee.

This is according to AT&T both over the phone and in-store.

I will be eligible for the standard upgrade price on 7/12/09 too. Thinking about haggling AT&T into giving me the standard upgrade price on 6/19/09 and giving them permission to start my two year agreement on 7/12/09. I guess it is worth a try. Has anybody tried this yet?

Unfortunately it won't work. Lady on the phone when I called AT&T told me they cannot override iPhone upgrade prices. even if they wanted to. Whatever the computer calculates it to be based on your account, is what it is. I asked.

I says I can't get the upgrade price until 3/15/10 but I bought my iPhone 3g on release day. I know for a fact I am a long time customer and haven't missed any bills. what could cause this and do u think I might be able to get my upgrade date changed?
