Engadget just posted this article about a 4G SIM card found in the "wild" for compatible wireless devices. Could this mean that in fact VZW might be getting the iPhone? I would live them to AT&T needs some help to keep up ...

Considering it's a regular and not a microsim, I would say no...

that sim card looks totally fake, the reader needs pins as thin as a needle in order to touch the right point.

It sure does look like a Verizon iPhone is coming real soon. Doesn't matter what size the SIM card is right now because I am sure there will be a micro SIM and also it's not hard to cut one down.

Also this is why ATT let people upgrade early to lock them down for another 2 years. All signs point to a Verizon iPhone.

Not talking about iPhone 4.

VZW is really getting the upper hand on att when i comes to 4G.

Att has had the iphone for 4 years now and they are still roughly 14 millions customers behind VZW..... Why can't they catch up? LTE and a future vzw iphone will make it harder for att to bridge the gap....................

To actually answer the original question, no this means absolutely nothing towards a Verizon iPhone.

LTE is SIM-based so this could be for any LTE phone.

Unless, for secrecy sake they are testing a LTE 3GS.

Based on what, exactly?

LTE requires a USIM. This has been well know for awhile now. All this means is that Verizon is getting ready to make USIMs for the 4G devices it will roll out when LTE is ready. The dumbest dumphone to the smartest smartphone will require a SIM, if it's going to work on LTE.

By this same logic, we should be expecting an iPhone to be released on T-Mobile US and Nextel any day now, since they too use SIMs.

Right, and if you beleive that, then I'm sure I can sell you a grilled cheese sandwich for a few hundred thousand dollars because the burn marks on it depict Jesus. And he's holding a Verizon iPhone.

This is a hint that VZW is close to the roll out of his LTE network, have nothing to do with the iPhone going to that network.

+1

When I see this article all it really shows is that Verizon is close to testing or launching an LTE network. I have no idea why an iPhone even gets into the conversation at this point.
