iPod touch Does this require fring for facetime?

I have an iphone 4 and the only methods I know of facetime is calling somebody elses iphone 4 or using fring.

So does everybody with the ipod touch 4g have to download fring or is there a a built in app because I heard you can call using email adresses? So can an ipod touch 4g user call an iphone 4 for free using facetime without the fring app?

Yes, there is a facetime app on the iPT4 but the iPhone needs to be running iOS4.1.
