I just got my new mbp 2.6 200gb hd, after having to get my first one replaced.

however, as of now i have mac office "student teacher ver" and my logitech mouse driver installed. I am about to install wow and when im finished I should have about 154-155gigs of space left.

My hd says 185gigs available with just osx installed?

Does this sound about right? or should i have more space

I think my first mbp had more space on the HD. I had about 158 after my wow downloads.

Dont buy into the GB game a 200 GB HD does not yield 200GBs of usable space. The 185 is correct

consider yourself lucky. Mine said I had 167GB left right out of the box. But I'm not complaining.

no dude, mine has about 167gb out the box. the 185 I was talking about is the entire drive without osx installed.

ours are pretty much the same, my previous had about maybe 2 or 3 more.

As zepharus just stated it's something to with the way HD manufactures calculate GB,when i installed my
320GB after formatting it i ended up with i think it was around 297GB

That sounds about right.

you could remove the languages, printer drivers, etc.
