Does VLC for iPad support Video out?

Just bought the Apple Digital AV Adaptor for my iPad 2 and was wondering if the VLC app (no longer on App Store) has video out so that I can watch films on my TV? I know it would mirror the display but the film wouldn't take up the entire width of the TV.

If VLC does not support it then are there any alternatives available on the App Store? Don't mind paying a little if I have to.
 
why didn't you buy hdmi?

anyways when i had the ipad 1 with vga, the vlc app did work. it was a little laggy, but vlc was always laggy for me
