iPod touch Does wifi turn off in sleep mode?

I've heard differing opinions on this. Does anyone know for sure one way or the other if the wifi turns off when putting the touch in sleep mode? Some say it turns off automatically, others say it doesnt.

Sure does. Wake it up and you'll see it initiating a connection to Wifi.
