I'd like to pick up a stock 21.5" 2011 iMac at my handy local Apple store, but want the wired peripherals instead. Will the Apple sales people gladly swap out the included wireless ones for wired ones at the store, or does this mean I will have order my iMac online? Thanks in advance!!

Anyone knows? I'd like to have the Magic Trackpad instead of the standard Magic Mouse.

Call and ask. Probably depends on the store.

I tried that at a best buy and they wouldn't do it. But maybe an apple store would.

Pretty sure anything buy the wireless kb and magic mouse are BTO. You can see it when you mess around in the cart.

I am sure that applies at the retail and online store all the same.

I called the Apple Store before picking up my 27" iMac, as I wanted the wired keyboard and magic trackpad instead. They said no problem over the phone. When I arrived, the wired keyboard was no issue but the salesman balked on the trackpad. But when I explained my phone conversation, he talked to his manager and gave me the trackpad. And as he pointed out, they don't open the boxes to remove the wireless keyboard/mouse so I get those too. :)

As always, YMMV but worth calling and then visiting the store as good chance they'll be able to help you out...

I sort of figured as much - I'll give them a call before I head out the door tomorrow. Thanks again!

You got a great apple store. I managed to switch to the wired keyboard + trackpad, but this was after my insist and asking her to talk to the manager twice. And they opened the box and took the wireless keyboard and mouse away....
