Series 6, Blue here.

Summer has finally arrived in Germany and I am chilling in 27 degrees on the balcony and I have noticed that my watch was off. I touched it and it was quite hot. The same happened a few times now as I was walking my dog in the summer heat (watch logo and rebooting).

i never had this happening on my old Series 0 or 5 🤨

I've never seen this on my Series 4 cellular, and I'm in Hong Kong where it doesn't go below 28º for most of the summer, and I regularly am in the sun for hours in 30º++.

I upgraded to the newest watch os (not betas) yesterday & for the first time ever, I noticed that the cellular had turned off (immediately after upgrading). the icon on the screen was red with a white background instead of black with white. When I licked on the logo it said that cellular was turned off until the watch cooled down.

It has been 100 degrees plus in Phoenix for quite awhile and my series 6 has had no issues being in direct sunlight for my afternoon runs which last for an hour and a half.... Next week it will be 110-115🤠

Series 6 blue as well -- never overheated, even when riding on a train without air conditioning in 28 Celsius heat.

That's one of the best features of Apple Watch - it never gets hot on your arm even in extreme heat in South Florida. Unlike all iPhones and iPads I ever had since they all overheat in summer here.

Series 4 here. No I have never had this problem.

Interesting. Neither my nor my wife's watches have ever overheated, and we live in Central Texas where summers are in a whole different league than in Germany. I think something may be wrong with yours.

@contacos - did a red thermostat appear on the screen?
Also - do you have a protective case? Those can increase the heat build up and retention.

no the watch was just off and the whole watch generally gets quite warm when I am sitting outside, so much that I usually take it off at some point because there is so much sweat building underneath that I am getting a red rush on my wrist

Well, I am probably around a hundred kilometres away from you, so we share the same weather ;) -- nothing like that has ever happened to me with the S6 (or the S3 and S0, for that matter). I would take it in to be evaluated.

Definitely not normal. I walk around in 95-100F weather (that's between 35 and 38°C for those of you using a more reasonable and sensible temperature scale) all day and it never shuts off or gets unconfortably warm.

Coming from aluminum to my first stainless, I noticed the same thing, that the watch gets really warm sitting on the wrist in full sun (but keeps on working just fine).

Everyone below the Mason Dixon saying it's been fine, that includes stainless models yes?
