Is this a defect? It's the way a LCD tv set loses brightness when looked at from the side.
 
All LCDs do this to some degree. Even the IPS LCDs that Apple uses for the iPhone and iPad, though the light fall off should be fairly minor.

Are you serious if you tilt it to the side it doesn't tint a bit?
