I have a Dell 32 inch (U3227QE), beautiful screen but occasionally (on average once a day) I have a flickering image for half a minute. Usually it goes away faster if I close all windows. Uninstalling Dell Manager Software solved it for the most part but it is not completely gone. Now I have posted this problem on other forums and was told by someone that it could be due to the Mac Studio. I have that screen connected to two computers. Via USB-c to the Mac Studio the phenomenon occurs, but via Display Port connected to my Mac Pro 2009 it does not. So my question is: are there any M1 owners who have sporadic flickering on their external screen with their M1 Mac? And can it hurt the screen?

Yes, it is a long-standing issue with M1 macs and external displays. I am facing it for months on my m1 macmini and BenQ 4k monitor. There is an 18-page thread here discussing this issue... https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ckering-with-external-display.2271670/page-18

This is believed to be a chip issue and there is NO PERMANENT FIX available till now. I have tried all the suggested fixes like changing display cables, changing refresh rates, changing color scheme, using BetterDisplay software to mirror the display, disabling dark mode, yada yada yada... Nothing fixes it permanently. I hope Apple comes up with some software-level fix for this issue sometime soon.
