I have been reading a lot and posting a few threads around with the issue of a pop/click noise in most UniBody MacBook's and MacBook Pro's.

It seems as though, after a period of speaker inactivity (mute, not being used etc.), there is a click or popping noise that comes from the speakers when as sound should be playing (For Example: Empty Trash).

If you are having this issue, please take the time and report it to Apple using the following link: www.apple.com/feedback.

I have created a template of what to say and please use it (or create your own):

Whenever the internal speakers of my POST YOUR COMPUTER HERE are inactive for a long time, they make a continuous popping noise when sound should be playing. This is not hardware specific due to the fact most people with UniBody Mac notebooks have this issue. To me, it seems like an issue with software and/or firmware. I believe this should be fixed as soon as possible as it could cause more permanent damage to the internal sound chip and/or speaker system.
Please see this thread is you would like more information: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9980981#9980981
Thank You.

As you see, others believe that this is rather a software/firmware issue, rather than hardware.

Once again, please take a few seconds to report this and maybe the issue can be fixed.

Thanks!
