I keep having this issue, already contacted Apple Support.. apparently some app prevents the Mac from sleeping. How is this possible ?

Basically, I clap down the notebook and only notice it was on all the time the next time I open it.
Burning hot. Mostly, it's laying on my bed or even in a case.. so this is definitely not healthy for the Macbook and I need to solve it asap.

Has anyone had a similar issue and was able to pinpoint the cause and solve it for good ?

Thanks.

Thats rather odd although I have the 13 and never experienced that. Do you have "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically" enabled in Sys prefs > Energy Saver? That's such a weird issue and if you tried PRAM, SMC etc. Other than creating a new user account and seeing if the issue happens there you may want to book a Genius Appt. They take walk-ins too if your early.

I find my 2018 13" MBP stays awake if I have "Find My Mac" switched on and my battery drains like crazy when it should be sleeping! As soon as I turn find my mac off it sleeps as normal. You could try turning that off and see how you go.

okey, makes sense. Thanks.

I do not have the option enabled.
I also haven't done any of the resets.. might try those.

If anyone else has this problem, check the Activity monitor, Energy tab.

OP:

What happens if you put it to sleep BEFORE you close the lid?
Does it wake up again, afterwards?

Sounds like you have some process going on that's either waking it up, or preventing it from sleeping. I'd go through every setting and check.

Also, if you find it "hot", open it and immediately open Activity Monitor and see what's using the CPU.
