HomePod Dolby Atmos, stereo HomePods and iPad - possible?

Atmos works with Apple TV and paired HomePods, no problems here. But is Atmos available with iPad, external display and pair of HomePods?
I stream Apple TV+ content in such a configuration, and while it sounds great - I’m not sure if Atmos actually present.

I can not get my iPad to stream Dolby to my stereo HomePods , just lossless

Handoff might work. I tried Airplay from my iPhone to my HomePod mini and it didn’t work it says lossless or Dolby atmos on the iPhone but once I start Airplay it reverts back to AAC.

I came in this morning and handed off from my phone to my stereo homepods and it stays in Dolby Atmos and lossless after it transfers. I don’t know if it’s because these homepods are paired to my Apple TV 4K. I’ll try later with one of my minis and see if it works with handoff.

edit: I can confirm it works with handoff with my HomePod minis.
