Hey,

In a few days I will get a Powermac G4 2x500mhz 512MB ram DVD-ROM SCSI card from B&W G3 no HDD

Off course I don't want to spend much $$ on it

I have a SCSI zip100 & SCSI 8x CD-RW wich i will install in it

probably I need to buy a bigger HD since the one I have to spare is just 6GB wich might be ok as bootdrive... but I've heared soms G4's don't like HD's smaller than 10GB... so any thoughts on that?

I probably will install OSX 10.3 on it (I don't see any reason for 10.4)

I have an 15" monitor.. so that's ok, I have the original apple mouse from the G5 and since I want to use it as fileserver (hd is more reliable than DVD for backup)/printserver I won't need a keyboard (exept for installing... and then I take the one from the G5)

it doesn't need to be speedy but I was wondering... what's the biggest internal HD this mac can take (without going for a ATA133 or SATA card & drives) I was thinking 2 identical drives for storage in mirror for reliability but if 120GB would max... I have to go for some pci card...
I'm on an airport express with my G5 so the G4 needs wireless too... is there any way of adding airport extreme speed (USB, PCI) instead of buying an old airport card?
for bigger transfers I will use my iPod or external HD...

later on I will probably buy an iBook or PowerBook & than its nice to be able to acces my backup from both macs & have it as printserver

I get this one for free so I want to use it ;-) but there is no rush... probably will take some time until I will set it up...

so if anyone has some thoughts about this... and what's the cheap/decent solution for some of my idea's... I have some idea's of my own... but maybe someone has a better idea... who knows ;-)

thnx

Jo
