So to start I am not saying donating blood affects hair production on your head or the ability to maintain it. I donate whenever I can but I am also loosing my hear. I am a young guy 27 but could be forced to shave my head by the time I am 35 (not that I wouldn't look good that way). I wanted to post this as a conversation starter would you take something like Propecia or proscar (Finasteride) to regain your hair but you couldn't donate blood as Finasteride is a restricted medication.

Rogaine is not that effective plus its very expensive where as Finasteride is much cheaper.

Thoughts?

Er why at the age of 27 would you go for Finasteride?

Wikipedia said:
Side effects of finasteride include impotence (1.1% to 18.5%), abnormal ejaculation (7.2%), decreased ejaculatory volume (0.9% to 2.8%), abnormal sexual function (2.5%), gynecomastia (2.2%), erectile dysfunction (1.3%), ejaculation disorder (1.2%) and testicular pain. According to the product package insert, resolution occurred in men who discontinued therapy with finasteride due to these side effects and in most men who continued therapy. The PPI also states that patients have reported persisting erectile dysfunction despite discontinuing the drug. In December 2010, Merck added depression as a side effect of finasteride.

(main ones bolded by myself for effect)

These effects are neither rare nor minor. In the UK I have only ever seen it prescribed for prostate cancer, and as these tend to be men in their 80s and they're being treated for freakin' cancer then they don't seem to mind.
