Do dongles break more than physical port/cable ?

I've gone though at least 5 dongles in the past year because the dongle if never supported by anyting,, as i use my Macbook Pro (early 2015) on my knee constantly... so the dongle just hangs off... With the picking up my Mac every now and hen and putting it down connection gets lost This is a big deal when u'r comparing 1.35TB of files over a network, but also with to use it as well..

Do people find dongles break more often? even USB-C for example.

Which dongles? I have not had any break. But I don't use dongles on a daily basis.

Of course the dongle+cable is more likely to fail than just a cable - if you double the parts AND add a connector point you get some more possible failures.

If you allowing to dongle hang in mid air is the root of the problem! The last time I saw one of these dongles they seem delicate and hanging them in mid air is just wrong headed because they are not designed to hold the load!
