A friendly tip about the Community Discussion forum.
Threads are easiest for people to find, now and in the future, if they are in the most specific forum that suits them. Many threads are posted here in the Community Discussion forum when they don't need to be.
Here's some guidance:
I understand that people treat the Community Discussion forum as a place that is always "safe" to post in. That's true (except for subjects that qualify for the Politics, Religion, Social Issues forum), but people are more likely to find threads about music under Music, pictures under Pictures, etc. Threads don't have to be Mac-related to go in those other forums.
Bottom line: Don't be shy about putting threads in the other forums.
This is definitely not a big deal, just a tip about where to post your threads. Thanks for being here and thanks for listening!
Threads are easiest for people to find, now and in the future, if they are in the most specific forum that suits them. Many threads are posted here in the Community Discussion forum when they don't need to be.
Here's some guidance:
* Post news stories in the Current Events forum. Example: "Tom Cruise Eats Own Baby"
* Post music-related threads in the Music Discussion forum. Example: "What's the name of this song?"
* Post stories about websites, the Internet, Apple, Apple stores, Apple employees, and even technology in the Apple, Industry and Internet Discussion forum. Examples: "When will there be Apple stores in Arkansas?" or "How does the Internet archive work?"
* and so on for the other forums.
We really do intend for this forum to be for "other" threads, those that don't belong in the other categories. When moderators spot threads that should be in more specific forums, they move them to the appropriate forum. That leaves plenty of topics here, including movies, TV, sports, personal problems, etc.* Post music-related threads in the Music Discussion forum. Example: "What's the name of this song?"
