Don't buy MacBook Pro with 16GB

It's clearly not enough. SomeOrdinaryGamer on YouTube shows you how to make a more powerful Mac out of your PC that Apple doesn't even sell.
When you open 69000 tabs on Chrome and Windows Server on virtual machine it crashes!! 16GB is clearly not enough.

wasn't the 8 GB of RAM M1 we are forbiden to purchase

I’m a developer and I’m only hitting yellow sometimes in the memory pressure so I’m wodering what you do to hit it with 16GB?

This is as utterly useless of a post just like the one saying don’t buy 8GB

I'm running 24 GB of RAM in my macOS Virtual Machine. Runs just fine. It's using 5 GB for applications and 7 GB for cache. My M1 mini is using 12 GB for programs and 4 GB for cache with about 80 MB of SWAP. I'd love to add a 32 GB mini to my setup. My Windows desktop has 128 GB of RAM so I can go higher if needed.

Why would you even open 69k tabs?
 
Just an interesting note: When I did the trade in calculation on the Apple store site, they valued my 16gb Macbook Pro 2020 the same as the 8gb version 2020
 
It appears Apple values the 2020 16gb and 8gb as the same value, so if you trade every couple years the 16gb will be fine for most users and Apple is not considering ram during trade in process. Future proof with computers is impossible.
 
Don’t get this thread, I have 16gb MacBook Pro 14” with multi softwares running and my compress is 24-39% and I have 4-5gb free ram.

Then I’m running vscode, Xcode etc.
So please explain for me why I should not buy the 16gb?
And I’ll replace this with a new one 2024.
I’m sure I’ll manage by with 16 until then.

It’s stupid to buy 32 when you don’t use it.

Back in 2014 I upgraded to 16GB in my MBP. Everything I use now is more demanding of RAM from apps to webpages. So getting the extra RAM future-proofed my computer.

However, if future proofing to you only means trade-in value, then you're probably correct.
