If I buy an iPad Air 2 from the Apple store, can I ask for a Verizon sim card so that I can choose my carrier at a later date?

Also, if I go online on this iPad and for example choose t-mobile for a short term data plan for a week, can I then at a later date, switch the sim to the Verizon card to sign up for a contract with them?

I just can't understand these sim card things.

I don't think you can do that. You have to select a carrier at the time of purchase. I bought the ATT version and have to stick with them.

I could be wrong but I don't think so.
