i have the late 2008 mbp for little more than 2 years. never had any problem with it. i thought i had a problem of battery but it's not.

ok first it happened 2 weeks ago, i was copying some large file to a external hd and after couple of minute it shut down suddenly. tried to start it again failed 2 times, white screen then shut down.
after the mbp was working well for 2 weeks.

last night same thing happened, i was copying files to a external hd. but this time it stuck in the apple logo and after couple minute couldn't hear the hd spining.

may be it's the hard drive but it's working ok now after reinstalling snow leopard.

before reinstalling mac os, i tried repair disk permission but was giving me error.

it seem to happen when i'm on battery, even 100% and 87% health.

is the hd failing? if yes why is it working good now?

if you can help guys thanks
