The guy who made the Alien Blue Reddit client for iPhone and iPad has come out with Jasmine, a Youtube client. It's a great minimalistic approach, and IMO has way better control over stream quality and subscriptions. Plus it's free, so just try it for yourself. I'm in no way affiliated with the dev, I just am a fan of this app (and Alien Blue). Here's a link: http://itunes.apple.com/app/jasmine-youtube-client/id554937050

Edit: Oh yeah, unlike Google's app, it also works on iPad!

Thank for the head-up.

Just tried it out and this app is actually quite incredible. Thanks for the info!

Can't get any videos to play. Popup says

"YouTube has restricted the feeds for this video"

Try the same video with a different app it computer. I've seen that on videos that infringe on licensing.

Per the in-app announcement: "NOTE: If you're seeing a lot of "Youtube has restricted feeds" errors, a re-install should sort that for you."

So just uninstall and reinstall the app.

I never saw that in app announcement but doing the above seemed to work. Thanks.

If you're at the screen on iPhone that has search, browse, favorites, playlists, subscriptions, etc at the bottom should be a bright red button that says announcement. Once you read it, you can mark it as read and it will go away.

Uninstalled and reinstalled fix that. Great app. Thank you for YouTube with no ad Apple style. :D

Great heads up!

I love the program's simplicity and full AirPlay.

Now if someone can find a good replacement for Maps. :D

I might give this a try. I actually don't have any issuye with Google's Phone app, but I certainly do use Safari-mobile for the iPad for Youtube. It was the only way I get to use iPad resolutions (and/or some part of retina) to display the content.

An iPad native client is also a nice touch. Will look into it later.

on the iphone, not seeing much difference; i mean, the "default" youtube app is fine. jasmine is nice tho...

I had only one problem with the new youtube app and it was a BIG problem.

The new youtube app only sends audio via airplay to the Apple TV. It doesn't send video.

Jasmine will send both audio and video via airplay.

Youtube and my photos are the only two apps that I use with airplay so it was a big loss.

If you don't have an Apple TV gen 2 or gen 3, you will be happy with Googles Youtube app.
