but I think my dual quad 2.8 has too much power. I'm using logic and this thing destroys anything I toss at it. I think they can just get rid of the freeze option soon. Will a sing quad do me just as good? Or will I notice a drastic speed decrease?

How many cores are you using and what is the processor usage on them? And you are thinking for the now, if you keep that machine it will last you a year or two longer than a downgraded one so you might want to consider that.
good point but I think i might upgrade in a year and a half or two. The 4 core should do me good till then right?
