Then come home and then Take what i did on my macbook pro and tranfer downloaded files/applications/documents andto the imac once i get home. I this possible if so how?

ChronoSync or rsync for synchronising the contents of one with the other and vice versa.
CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper for creating clones of one onto the other, but due to driver issues too hassle-some, unless you only clone non-system folders.

A more descriptive and precise thread title will help cater to the right audience and get you more responses. (see rule #3 under Minor Problems)
To edit your thread title, just click on the

button on the bottom right of your original post and then click the "Go Advanced" button below your message.

Have you also taken a look at MRoogle, since that question may have been asked several times?

Example: How to have data from my iMac on my MacBook and vice versa?

I do this through dropbox. Basically you just set up a folder which would be continuously synced with the dropbox server and any other authorised computers which has dropbox installed. The good thing about using dropbox is that you also have web access to any files that you've put into it. You can go to www.dropbox.com to find out more
