Don't Want any name to appear when text is recieved - Possible

Hey all, just wanted to know are there any settings i can change so that when i recieve a text from someone there name does not appear?

It just says something like 1 text recieved or similar??

Just don't like it when my phone is lying somewhere i get a text people can see who it's from

Unfortunately not, the only thing you can change is whether or not it shows a preview of the message itself.
 
Jailbreak and buy BiteSMS.

In the settings you can opt whether to hide the preview, and the sender.
 
Actually bitesms is free, if you can put up with a small add on the bottom of the application. You will rarely if ever open up the main application
 
LockInfo is the App you require my friend. Check Rock or Cydia & download.
 
BiteSMS is worth every cent they're charging and then some. Every feature Apple's Messaging app lacks that you could possibly have ever griped about missing is either already in BiteSMS or in the current beta (hello custom individual SMS ringtones for your contacts, now in beta!)

One of the best reasons to jailbreak, in my opinion, and yes, if you're willing to put up with ads, you don't even have to pay. It's my most used app, and light years better than the native one.
