Don't want to lose jb on a 3gs :(

I have an old 3gs jailbroken and running 4.33 on 5.16.02

what are my options if i call ATT to unlock. If i restore i'll lose my jailbreak

Does SAM work with this? I think i'm using SpiritJB or Jailbreakme 3.0. I can't remember.

You can still JB on 5.1 on a 3GS.
No need to preserve the baseband since the only reason for that was for unlocking.

On the original 3GS with the older rom, it's untethered.

how do i know if i have a ROM compatible with being untethered?

Could you please help walk me though the unteathered jb process for the 3gs? its been so long since i jb'ed anything that i dont' even know where to start. My current 4s isn't jb . Thanks.

Use the Untethered Holidays post instructions.
This will get you on 5.01 untethered.

The 5.1 jailbreak (March Mayhem) is "supposed" to be untethered for non-A5 devices...

If you’re lucky enough to have an old-bootrom 3GS, this jailbreak is actually untethered (redsn0w will figure that part out automatically).

...but I haven't tried it yet.

thanks. Will try it when i get home from work Hopefully i'll have an old bootrom, or i can always wait until 5.1 untethered comes out.
