Well, only the screen, which i can still distinguish from the macbooks.

Differences:

Keys
Trackpad
Trackpad buttons
WTF-is-that palmrest
power button
plastic ring on outside body
hinge

There are way more differences than similarities, I think your just focusing on the screen.

too bad the specs on that book is way better

i know i know.. osx makes it all better

I can't even tell which is which, they're so much alike...

Actually it does have the same dime a dozen look cheap screen bezel look. However to me the Gateway is visually more appealing because they kept the scheme consistent and used black plastic appropriately throughout. The new MBP looks like a frankenstein of Aluminum and cheap black plastic PC laptop parts. Very dated looking too like from 5 to 7 years back in the PC world.

The only positive I think is great about the new MBP design is the one piece chassis which is very good. But instead of producing a consistent machine throughout their opting for cheap black plastic keyboard and black bordered display panel just destroy the whole thing. Just MO for what its worth.

Looks like glass screens are the new trend? you can tell they tried to copy Apple but still try to have some differences like the keyboard, ugly wrist pads and orange lights.

in my opinion, FAIL. :D

I don't get it, if you want to copy Apple, copy it properly. Don't produce travesties like that hideous gateway.

To be fair, I highly highly doubt that apple pioneered the all glass screen....

Gotta love how that review says "...if you're looking for something with a little style and refinement in the PC world, you have a few options -- and Gateway has added another with its latest laptop, the MC7803u!"

If a MC7803u is "style and refinement," I'll take a dowdy old MacBook Pro any day! Gad, that thing is everything that could possibly be ugly about a laptop rolled into one!

Well I can say that Gateway has never had any idea of form, well function either. I would say that Apple is getting close. The only annoyance that is also not on the MBP is the palm rests...yuck!

Damn Fugly!

Who do they have designing these machines? Engineers? You think after all of this time competing with Apple the other companies would learn how to make an aesthetically pleasing laptop that doesn't sacrifice functionality. I mean come on! Retro orange lightning? Leather-esque palmrest? Bleh.

Haha, looks like they tried sticking an iPhone in the middle of the trackpad :p. Maybe thats where those rumors for the MBP having an iPhone dock came from...a Gateway lol
