I am a bit of a Video Card Enthusiast

I have been using Doom 3 as a means to compare various things.

It has been bugging me that no matter how much RAM a video card has, on my Mac Pro it only shows 256 Megs when you call up the console. The System Memory stops at 2 Gigs, and the GPU RAM at 256 Megs.

I thought it odd that Aspyr was so short-sighted, especially when turning on "Ultra" quality brings up a warning about needing 512 Megs of VRAM.

Just tried same deal on a Dual G5 and noticed that it listed the card correctly as having 512 Megs RAM.

Is this just my install or do all Intel versions of the game show up with just 256 Megs of VRAM?

Does this mean that the game would run better if all RAM could show up?

(I am testing on a 1Gig 4870...seems a shame to just get 256 Megs to show up...so 2005)
