I've been considering switching to .Mac for a while now. I really like the Sync features and by the sounds of things, it would sync my folders that I have in my online mail with my offline mail, something that I've wanted for years. However, there are a few things that are vitally important and I can't see how to do, at least in the trial membership I've just signed up for.

I don't care about a @mac.com address. I have several of my own email addresses and I don't want anyone to see anything from .mac. With my Yahoo! Plus account I can send emails from any address I want as long as its been verified to be mine. I can't see where to do this in .mac. I know I could set up an smtp email account on my local machine but it needs to be an online thing too. This is something that Yahoo! mail's done for me for years.

Secondly, I don't know if its syncing properly. I created a folder called 'friends' and moved emails from my inbox on my local machine to the friends folder. It synced up and those emails were sure enough in my friends folder. However, they were also still in my Inbox folder. Is this a known bug or a limitation? When I moved the two test emails again from the Inbox folder online (which were not showing up on my local machine), they created duplicate emails in the friends folder.

Thirdly, how do I import my emails from Yahoo? I have several thousand emails sorted into folders. I believe I can extract them as csv files but Mail seems to be only able to read a few different types of mailformats in from already running programs.

Any clues?
