When I double click on a video file icon the dock moves as if an application is about to open but then it returns to normal. I can't get my video files to play. I have to open up movist by itself and then select the file from the menu to play it. How can I fix it so I don't have to do such a thing?

I already tried reinstalling Movist. I also restarted the computer. Both didn't work.

I must say macs are pretty buggy.

Try this...
right+click on one of your movie files
select "Get info"
Now under "Open with" select the application you want to use (movist) then click on "change all"

I did that, it didn't fix the problem.

same thing for me..same setup, same symptoms
The icon appears in the dock...Lights on nobody home though.

Sometimes I can go to the menu item Playback and choose play and the movie starts. Most often I have to exit the program and try again. Usually on the second try things work.
