I have a Mac All-In-One desktop. Mac OS X (Version 10.6.8). LOVE it, but... 2 problems cropped up a couple of days ago.

First, my HD Macintosh icon (in the upper right of my desktop) showed up double. I can click on it and it opens, and I can drag one image around (though it always snaps back to be next to the other image).

In addition, I cannot click on two other images I had "saved to desktop." I was able to select some--I usually keep my desktop clear except for the HD--but now I can't clear the other images. I cannot drag or select them at all. It is as though they are not there... but I can clearly see them!

I have tried relaunching finder--to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

sounds like a permissions issue.
try repairing the disk permissions in disk utility.

if not create a new user account and see if the same thing is happening, if so. use your restore disc to perform an archive and install - it wont damage or delete your files - but have a back-up regardless
