A few days after preorders started, I ordered my 64gb through Apple.com. It said that my phone wouldn't ship for two weeks. I figured I would still try to purchase one on launch day and fortunately I was successful. However, as soon as I arrived home and logged in to cancel my order it said "processing for shipment". Now normally I would be ecstatic for an early shipment, but this time it worked against me since I was unable to cancel. To make a long story short I received the phone today through Fed Ex and immediately shipped it back to Apple after being approved for a return.

My questions are, why was I still able to purchase one in store for the discounted price? Does the preorder not affect the upgrade discount unless it's actually activated? I hope no issues come up with Verizon.
