The 5S was £549 at launch. So the IPhone has almost doubled in price in about 4 years.

You need to be getting a good pay rise to keep up with the soaring IPhone cost.

Be interesting to see how sales go.

I guess but....the original iPhone that debuted was $599 back in 07. Adjusted for inflation thats about $730.

Sales will still break records, most people are doing the 1UP program or carrier financing upgrading every year so not everyone is dropping 1k right off the bat.
 
I'm just glad there are options. A new previous generation phone is now a solid option. Now try buying a MacBook with a decent sized hard drive...

Then you have to factor The changes in technology and what it's costing Apple to manufacture these new advanced smart phones today compared to smart phones over five years ago. Phone component cost is something that we don't have exact numbers on, but it's likely a contributing factor for the rise in the cost of materials of these new iPhones.
