i have been fighting with my itunes for some time now.
i have doubles of artists and songs split from the same album under the two names.

i have gone in and changed the artists as a group and copied and pasted them into the info boxes individually.

i am at a loss.

any ideas?

If I am understanding you right I have the same problem. However, I notice this because when I am going through coverflow I have two of the same album covers for two groups of songs and can't seem to figure out why???

have you tried going up to view and then clicking show duplicate songs...if that's not right i have miss understood what you are saying.

I had the same problem, but there is an easy way to fix it!

Just shift-select all the songs that are supposed to be one album.
Right-click and get info for multiple items.
When the window pops up, do the following:
1) Make sure the Artist checkbox is checked and the Artist name is correct.
2) Make sure the Album Artist checkbox is checked and NOTHING IS TYPED IN.
3) Make sure the "compilation" checkbox at the bottom of the window IS CHECKED. Also, be sure to select "no" in the associated pull-down menu.

Hope this helps.... usually one or more of these steps will do the trick!

thanks

thanks for the advice.
just now getting around to dealing with my computer again.
