Doubts about adding second SSD

Two doubts :


I'm going to add a SSD to my iMac 2011 as a second hard drive as soon as parts arrive .

Will I have issues with the fan always on or sleeps issues ?

I have read that fans will keep running only if I change the hard disk that came installed by Apple.

correct - if you leave the existing hard drive alone and just install the SSD to the available SATA port as instructed, you will be fine.

in case you didn't know, OWC also makes a kit allowing you to replace the main drive without those issues - it actually includes a replacement SATA cable & sensor.

Thanks for quick response.

I will install a 256 SDD and leave the stock hdd alone but will check OWC and maybe replace it for a bigger hdd.
