This is so nice what people have been doing for this guy:

Donations for a pizza deliveryman who was beaten and carjacked in south Evanston were approaching $15,000 this afternoon, as people from around the country and overseas learned of his plight and neighbors' efforts to help him.
Omar Gutiérrez has been struggling to keep up with hundreds of e-mails and donations pouring in from as far away as South Korea for Stephen Walker. Gutiérrez, 31, witnessed the attack on Walker last week and started collecting money from neighbors to replace Walker's 2003 Kia, which was totaled during the incident.

As of this afternoon more than $14,879.90 has been collected, Gutiérrez said. The Tribune reported Monday that he had started a Web site explaining Walker, 47, had minimal insurance on his car and did not expect his employer would replace it.

Now, in addition to the donations, an insurance company plans to offer Walker free comprehensive coverage for his next car, Gutiérrez said. He added that Walker's employer, Papa John's, is supplying pizza and drinks at a gathering tonight where the donated money will be presented to the deliveryman.

"People are dropping checks at the police station," Gutiérrez said.

Ha! That was the title of the article. Don't blame me. :)
If I didn't know any better I would have thought Calboy came up with that title.:p

It is nice to hear people still care about others when most of the time they only care about themselves.

Wow, so nice of Papa Johns to donate pizza. Hope they made a contribution to the fund as well. I know their policy for delivery drivers is no different from a lot of places, but I'd still consider this to be a bit of negative publicity for them, especially as it doesn't say that strangers care more for their employees than they do.

Papa John's donated $3500 as well as 100 pizzas for the celebration. Nice contribution, IMO.

How do you know I didn't write the article? ;) :p Give me some time, I'm sure I can earn my title back. :D

Seriously though, what a nice story. :) With what you read in the news most of the time, this is definitely a morale booster. :)

That's why I posted the article. We can all use a little something happy these days.

Great story and yes, does make one feel good. It's nice to read something positive for a change. And yes, I agree, the title is horrible; I clicked on it expecting - well, it doesn't matter but some, ghastly "mad but true" story used to fill newsprint.

Cheers
