Do you know of a gizmo to convert a 1080i 60 stream coming through an HDMI cable down to a resolution that can be adapted to VGA and go to some less-than-HD monitors that we have here?

The simple cable adapter is a no-go -- and I think the reason is that the signal has too high a resolution to work with the cheap VGA monitors we have set up for the purpose.

Any thoughts?

Do you mean you need to convert a 1080i digital signal into an analogue signal?

Is there any HDCP involved?

Does it have to be standard definition, as stated in the title? "VGA" monitors can handle a wide range of resolutions.

What's the maximum res the analogue monitor can handle?

Do the monitors have DVI inputs?

Is there audio involved?

How many VGA monitors do you want to pipe this signal to at any one time.

What is your budget/how good does the result have to be?

Just snagged one of these which I hope does the trick. Better late than never!

@martinX I think what I ordered will work but I've answered your questions the best I could, if you have something better/cheaper would love to know! (And if not maybe others would benefit from knowing this. Maybe. :))

Yes.

I hope not :D (No.)

SD is what I meant and the important thing.

800x600

Nope.

Nope.

4, we already have the StarTech splitter.

What is your budget/how good does the result have to be?
Cheap as possible and visible from 6 or so feet away is the only quality requirement.
