Hi all
We have a 2008 Mac Book Pro that we bought refurbished. It had Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed.
We do not have the original install disks from Apple.
We upgraded it to El Capitan.
I need to re=install 10.6.8 for a recording project.

I have a generic 10.6.8 install disk that I purchased. Can I install Snow Leopard from that install disk
on the Mac Book Pro?

Thanks
Mike

According to Mactracker model A1229 is a 2007 17” MacBook Pro. This Mac originally came with Mac OS X 10.4.7 up to 10.5. Therefore, you should be able to use any retail disc to install Snow Leopard.

Incidentally, none of the 2008 MacBook Pros came with Snow Leopard either, so they should be upgradable with the retail disc, as well.

Thank you so much.
I had read that it would not work
