Instructions on how to downgrade from 5.01 to 5.0 windows only!
Download:
- Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11
- iOS 5.01 ipsw
- iOS 5.0 ipsw
- TotalCommander
with Sn0wbreeze create to custom firmwarez, 1 for 5.01 and 1 for 5.0 perserving BB for both
TotalCommander lets you edit the ipsw without changing the secure shell.
Drag the 5.0 ipsw on to totalcommander, it will open with file structure of ipsw. In it there are 2 file with .dmg extension, copy those to any folder.
Drag 5.01 ipsw to totalcommander, you will see similar file structure with 2 .dmg files.
Rename the copied 5.0 .dmg's to the .dmg's in the 5.01.
No copy the renamed files to the 5.01 files structures in totalcommander overwriting the original.
Now use the edited 5.01 ipsw to shift/alt restore with itunes.
It worked for me!! now back on 5.0 after lock-up with the hisiri b******t.
The only drawback seen so far is tetherd boot with redsnow 0.9.9.b7 needs to point to 5.0 iOS original ipsw.
Not sure if this will allow shsh safe with ifaith and restore that way (that is for tomorrow)
Checked to see if it actually is 5.0, it is, ultrasnow installed and unlocked my phone without any aditional steps instead of the commcenter change which is needed on 5.01
