Hey all. I am considering downgrading my mammoth 17" MBP to a Unibody Macbook for portability. Lugging this behemoth to school every day is no fun!
My main concern is the Macbooks lack of firewire. I assume this means I need both a USB Audio Interface, and USB external hard drive.

I am thinking of the E-mu 0404 USB as my interface, and as for harddrives, a Lacie or Western Digital.

Will using an external USB hard drive cause "Disk too Slow" problems with Logic or Reason?

Comments on the 0404 before purchase?

Thanks :)

I'm under the impression that the "Disk Too Slow" error would only be given in Logic if I am trying to record more than 8-10 tracks at a time, or high sample rates?

Only problem is the MB has only 2 USB ports.

E-Mu 0404
Lacie 1TB USB Hard Drive

- Each want their own port, right?

Where do I plug in my Logitech VX Nano mouse? My Axiom 61 Controller? My BCF2000?

Axiom Out-->BCF2000 In. BCF2000 Thru--> E-mu 0404 In?

That leaves the mouse still. Which device goes on a chain? The Interface, or the External HD?

Thanks :)
