Downgrade Unlocked/Jailbroken iPhone 3G from v.4.2.1 to v.3.1.3

Hi,

I have an unlocked/jailbroken iPhone 3G on v.4.2.1... It is running really slow, and I am interested in downgrading it to v.3.1.3...

I wanted to confirm few things before going ahead with the process:
- Will these instructions work fine for my already unlocked/jailbroken phone? Are there any better instructions?
- Do i need to lock my phone before downgrading it? I suppose no???
- Would the jailbreaking stay after I downgrade the phone? I suppose yes???

Is there anything else I should keep in mind???
