Downgrading a 3GS from 4.0 to 3.something

Is there a way to downgrade my old 3GS OS to something lower? I am selling it and it seems the people interested in it are all wanting to use it on tmobile. I figured I try and do it so it may easier to sell this way.

Now I don't know anything about jailbreaking or even where to begin so if you have some helpful advice to aid me with this then please do.
 
You cannot downgrade a 3GS unless you have shsh blobs saved for any previous built. And judging by your post and that you never jb before you cannot.
Tell them they will have to wait for a new jb to be out for 4.0 and 4.0.1 and then they can unlock it for Tmobile.
 
Thanks buddy, I just edited my for sale post to let every one know that it has iOS 4.0.1, to avoid any more questions about what the phone has. When I posted it I didn't think anything of posting the software version, it just didn't seem like it matter but I guess it does.

Download the firmware you want from
http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/  Then hold down Shift (PC) or Option (Mac) in iTunes while you click the Restore button, which will allow you to
browse to the firmware file you just downloaded and restore that.

If you get an error while restoring when downgrading to 3.1.3,
download  http://jaxov.com/2010/05/recboot-iphone-recovery-mode/ and
run it to kick the iPhone out of recovery and you are done.

That information is false and will NOT work on a 3GS model.
Only on 2G and 3G iPhones.
